It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the opportunity.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
